Global Mission Leadership Scholarship scholars are passionate, innovative, spirited, and determined individuals with strong character and a heart for advocacy. They impact their communities and countries and further global human flourishing. Current Program Needs

Discretionary Funding

Scholarship dollars cannot be used for all of our student and program needs, so many expenses must be paid from our discretionary funds. A donation to GML's general fund ensures students and alumni have the resources, physical and otherwise, to thrive in our program and beyond. These funds cover the following:

• Student Expenses: On the average, it costs $10,000/year per GML student to fund books, household expenses, taxes, and emergency funding.
  • A gift of $20,000 would fund those necessary expenses for one student for the entirety of their tenure in the MSW program.
• Conference: Every 5 years, the Initiative hosts a global conference for GML alumni to share best practices, strategize and problem-solve community challenges, and encourage one another.
  • A gift of $60,000 covers the cost of hosting this conference for our alumni from around the world. 
• Programming: We also use discretionary funding for other necessary GML activities including recruitment (~$5,000 per year) and other program expenses including student development and orientation activities (~$1,000 per year).

Endowed Funding

Endowed scholarships ensure that there will always be a place for GML students at the Garland School of Social Work, creating a permanent legacy for Baylor students. Endowed gifts are placed in a permanent fund and a portion of the income earned from that fund provides scholarship assistance to students. Currently we have funding for 3.8 full student scholarships per year. Partner with us in endowing our 4th GML student! An endowed gift of $100,000 will allow us to fully fund 4 GML students each year.
