Background
Alina Bond Chan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years of experience working in various settings, including community mental health, school social work, clinical supervision, and training on trauma, mental health, and substance use. She has taught in the Drug and Alcohol Counseling program at UCLA Extension for the past decade and as an adjunct with the MSW program at Azusa Pacific University, where she now teaches full-time in the social work department. She has partnered with multiple agencies throughout Los Angeles and Orange County to provide grant-funded training on the use of evidence-based interventions for co-occurring mental health, substance use, and trauma. Recently, she collaborated with the Castaneda Research Team to provide training on applying motivational interviewing in early intervention services for at-risk youth in Los Angeles County. She completed her PhD classes at Baylor University’s Garland School of Social Work and is working on her dissertation research on trauma-informed social work education and best practices for teaching about trauma.
