Project Components
- A 5-day Curriculum: The curriculum includes materials accessible to high school students and the general public.
- A Board game: This board game was developed with students from the University of Pennsylvania, Haverford College, and local high schools to reflect key concepts of The Philadelphia Negro, particularly the class structure within the African American community and its diversity.
- A Walking tour: The walking tour features sites such as the Institute for Colored Youth, Mother Bethel African American Episcopal Church, Home of Octavius Catto and Engine Number 11.
- A Mural: This mural leaves a footprint and visual reminder of the neighborhood’s former African American community.
- An Oral History Collection: This oral history collection includes the stories of African Americans sharing their recollection of racial discrimination and advancements.
- A Short documentary : This documentary highlights the research of Du Bois conducted in Philadelphia’s old Seventh Ward in the 1890s to the contemporary story of the Braxton family that once lived in this neighborhood.
- An interactive mapping dashboard: This mapping tool uses geographic information systems (GIS) to recreate Du Bois's survey research.
