SCRAP: What we do
Grow Local Food and Leadership
We steward the revitalized Baylor Community Garden as a living lab for urban agriculture, sustainability and food security. Led by a Community Garden Manager and supported by SCRAP, the garden cultivates fresh produce, student learning and partnerships with communities across Waco.
Educate Through Schools, Faith Communities & Social Service Organizations
Building on the Growing Leaders and Learners Project, we expand the garden and composting programs in local schools, churches, and social service agencies—equipping children, youth and families with skills in regenerative agriculture, environmental stewardship and micro-enterprise.

Mobilize Students for Civic Impact
Through the new Environmental Humanities courses, Baylor faculty develop courses that engage undergraduates in collaborative projects with local organizations to tackle food insecurity and environmental challenges, transforming learning into service and research into action.
Tell the Story of Resilience
In partnership with the Mayborn Museum, we are co-creating an exhibit that explores food systems and community resilience. Through interactive storytelling and the voices of residents, the exhibit sheds light on the power of grassroots organizing to reduce food insecurity and food waste, as well as the promise of a healthier, more sustainable food system.
