Strategic Plan 2024-2030
As part of our strategic plan, aligned with Baylor in Deeds, the GSSW advances student flourishing, interdisciplinary research and a caring community through innovative education, collaborative scholarship and a deep commitment to human flourishing that is informed by social work values and virtues and rooted in our Christian faith.
Strategic Planning at Baylor University
In 2023, the university set out to to build upon the momentum of past strategic plans such Pro Futuris and Illuminate and to seek answers to the question: “What does the world need Baylor for?” What came out of this process is known as Baylor in Deeds, the university’s new strategic plan, set to guide us through 2030. Four Commitments were identified as key to the University’s growth and development as part of this plan and specific strategies were developed for each of the Commitments. Each academic unit was then tasked to develop a plan that aligns with Baylor in Deeds; thus Garland in Deeds emerged.
The Garland School of Social Work is committed to providing excellence in social work education that develops and nurtures holistic social work practitioners. The strategies found in our unit's strategic plan specifically support this mission in a variety of ways. Garland in Deeds follows the same structure and has distinct strategies that align with the university's four commitments. Our plan was created with input from each faculty member in the Garland School under the guidance of our dean and associate deans. As a result, we have taken exciting steps this year to step into our future with a clear sense of intentionality and purpose.
