Collaborative by design, the program’s curriculum builds upon Baylor’s existing curricular strengths to bring engaging and innovative online course content. This program is designed to give you the confidence, knowledge, and skills to work, live, and make a difference in a rapidly changing world.
Program Information
- Entry Terms: Students are admitted 3 times per year in the Fall, Spring, and Summer.
- Application Requirements:
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university in any field of study.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Personal Statement: a one-page statement highlighting the applicant’s credentials and motivation for this program.
- 2 Letters of Recommendation (LoR): one from a past faculty member and one personal or professional reference.
- Qualifying Exams: No GRE or entrance exams are required for admission

- Modality: The Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies is an online graduate program that offers students flexibility in designing their own degree plans.
- Credit Hours: The online Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies program will require a minimum of 30 credit hours and a maximum of 42 credit hours, depending on the path chosen.
- Transfer Credits: Up to 50% of eligible graduate credits from another accredited university may transfer. Students wishing to transfer to the MS IDS program from other Baylor master-level programs may have more than 50% of their credits transfer if they align with the current MS IDS curriculum. Eligible credits will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the program director and Garland School leadership.
The tuition rate for the online Master of Interdisciplinary Studies program is $1100 per credit hour.
