The FAFSA Simplification Act represents a significant overhaul of the federal student aid process, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, need analysis and eligibility calculations, and many policies and procedures. These changes greatly enhanced the user experience and should drastically reduce the time to complete the application. Baylor has created a step-by-step guide with tips and updates to aid you along your FAFSA journey, along with frequently asked questions. Baylor has also put together a number of videos to help answer your questions about financial aid. Click the links below to access these resources.

Step by step to apply for federal funding as a graduate student
Graduate students looking to secure loans to help fund their professional social work education must follow these steps:
Step 1: Confirm your enrollment status
To be eligible for federal loans and some private loans, you must be enrolled at least half-time. To confirm if you’re meeting the half time enrollment status for your graduate program please click here.
Step 2: Submit your FAFSA
File the FAFSA at studentaid.gov if you plan to use federal loans to help pay for your tuition and fees. The BAYLOR FAFSA CODE is: 003545.
Visit our FAFSA Tips page for more information on what to expect when you complete your application.
Step 3: Confirm your aid
After our office receives your FAFSA, we may need additional information from you. We will email you if you have unsatisfied requirements, or you can check your Home tab in the Financial Aid Dashboard in BearWeb. If you borrow federal loans, complete the Title IV Authorizations in BearWeb under the Resources tab in the Financial Aid Dashboard.
If you want to apply for additional aid, you can apply for a Grad PLUS or private loan. We encourage you to borrow responsibly and to carefully review the terms and conditions of repayment. For a list of trusted loan providers, please review our Loans website. You are not required to borrow a loan from any of the providers found on this list.
From there, you can select your preferred method of receiving your money. In the case you receive any refunds to your student account, you should set up your refund preferences in BearWeb. In the BearWeb menu, navigate to "Student Financial Resources" and click on "Student Refunds."
Step 4: Stay in touch with One Stop
We encourage you to monitor your Baylor email for any important messages about your financial aid and any other opportunities that may become available.
If you have any questions, please contact Baylor One Stop by submitting an online contact form, calling us at 254-710-2611, or by visiting us in-person on the third floor of the Bill Daniel Student Union Center (SUB).
