SCRAP: What we do
Grow Leaders and an Edible Learning Landscape
We steward Baylor’s Community Gardens to transform our campus into an edible learning landscape in partnership with SCRAP. These gardens nourish hands-on education across disciplines, student and community well-being, care for creation through arts and culture, and fresh produce for our neighbors.
Educate Through Schools, Faith Communities and Social Service Organizations
Building on the Growing Leaders and Learners Project, we expand the garden and composting programs in local schools, congregations, and social service agencies—equipping children, youth and families with skills in regenerative agriculture, environmental stewardship and micro-enterprise.
Mobilize Students for Civic Impact
Through Environmental Humanities courses, Baylor faculty engage undergraduates in collaborative projects with local organizations to tackle food insecurity and environmental challenges, transforming learning into service and research into action.
Tell the Story of Resilience
In partnership with the Mayborn Museum, we are co-creating an exhibit that explores food systems and community resilience. Through interactive storytelling and the voices of residents, the exhibit sheds light on the power of grassroots organizing to reduce food insecurity and food waste, as well as the promise of a healthier, more sustainable food system.
