Meet Robert Moreno: Social, Nonprofit & Public Leadership Student
Tell us a little about yourself. What experiences have shaped your path to social and nonprofit leadership?
I hold a Master of Divinity degree from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. For the past seven years, I have been engaged in pastoral ministry, which has been a significant part of my life. During this time, I have had the privilege of accompanying many individuals in pastoral care, especially during challenging moments.
Tell us what you are passionate about. What motivates your commitment to serving others?
I have always felt called to serve others, and my experience in various leadership and ministry roles has affirmed this calling. Accompanying individuals through challenging moments has been deeply rewarding. Listening attentively to others’ woundedness, while recognizing that we are all wounded, has driven my desire to find ways to support others.
What led you to Baylor's MA in Social, Nonprofit & Public Leadership?
As I sought new opportunities and discerned how I could continue serving others, I came across a social media post from Baylor University promoting its new Master of Arts in Social, Nonprofit & Public Leadership program. Interestingly, I had no prior connection to Baylor, so the post came at the perfect time. The program quickly caught my attention because it emphasized developing leaders called to serve those in need, not only by meeting immediate needs but also by creating lasting change.
What do you hope to gain from this experience, and how do you hope to make a difference?
I see this program as a key step in my personal and professional journey, helping me build the knowledge and skills to collaborate with others who share a commitment to service. I hope to build on my previous experience and gain greater exposure to the many organizations doing meaningful work.
What are your plans after completing the program?
After completing the program, I look forward to discovering new opportunities where I may be called to serve and where I can contribute my experience, knowledge and skills. Ultimately, I hope to find opportunities to collaborate with others who seek to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
