Letters of Recommendation
Application Requirement:
Applications to the standard program require three letters of recommendation. At least one of the three letters of recommendation must be from an academic professor who has direct knowledge of the applicant's academic work.
Applications to the advanced standing program require three letters of recommendation. At least two of the three letters of recommendation must be from an academic professor who has direct knowledge of the applicant's academic work. Of these two academic references, one must be the undergraduate program director, the director of practicum education, or the social work supervisor.

Application Advice:
To be considered for admission, applicants must submit a complete application including all three letters of recommendation, by posted deadlines. Letters of recommendation are often outside of the applicant's control. We encourage applicants to give recommenders as much time as possible to complete the letter of recommendation on your behalf.
Our best advice? Fill out the recommendation section of the application first!
- Access the Garland School of Social Work Application
- Navigate to the Recommendation tab and complete the required fields
- The MSW application will immediately send your recommenders an email with instructions for completing their letter of recommendation.
