Through their leadership, coordination, and commitment to Christian values, they make a significant impact on the lives of those in need.

Duties:

Identify community needs and develop programs to meet those needs. This includes assessing resources, designing intervention strategies, and setting measurable goals.
Manage program budgets and seek funding opportunities to support the services provided.
Oversee and supervise staff members.
Collaborate with community partners, stakeholders, and volunteers to enhance service delivery, foster partnerships, and advocate for necessary community resources.

Substance Abuse Social Worker

These social workers play an important role in helping with the recovery of individuals struggling with substance abuse. They work in places like mental health clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation and recovery centers, and correctional facilities.

Answer the Call with a Master of Social Work from Baylor

Whether you want to help people one-on-one or influence change on a grander scale, earning a Master of Social Work (MSW) will help you get the skills and knowledge to succeed.

At Baylor University’s Diana R. Garland School of Social Work, our MSW program offers two specializations, Clinical Practice and Community Practice, and prepares students to serve as licensed professionals in their communities. Plus, the degree program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

While this MSW program is open to students of all faiths, it places importance on the integration of faith and practice. For example, the Council on Social Work Education requires the school to be guided by nine competencies as part of its accreditation. But we’ve developed a 10th competency based on the importance that faith plays in the profession:

Engage in ethical and anti-oppressive social work practice and research that considers the role and influence of religion, spirituality, and philosophical perspectives.
