Garland School professor receives Baylor Outstanding Faculty award
From the University announcement—
Baylor is known for faculty who are dedicated to both the transformational education and top-tier research. Reflecting this distinctive hallmark of a Baylor education, 12 professors from across the University have been honored with Outstanding Faculty Awards for exceptional teaching, research achievement, effective committee service, time spent with students and civic and church involvement.
“This year’s Outstanding Faculty honorees embody the highest calling of the academic vocation at Baylor University,” Marshall Magnusen, PhD, associate professor in the Moody School of Education and chair of the selection committee, said. “In their teaching, scholarship and servant leadership, they reveal a shared commitment not only to excellence, but to Baylor’s distinctive purpose.”
This year, we congratulate Garland School Clinical Professor Carrie Arroyo, named Outstanding Faculty: Non-Tenure Track Teaching. Carrie is a licensed clinical social worker and has been a member of the GSSW faculty since 2011. She earned her BSW from the University of Texas at Austin and her MSW from the University of Pennsylvania. She led the Partnering for Heart of Texas Mental Health Program and the Be Emotionally Aware and Responsive (B.E.A.R.) Project—multi-year, multi-million dollar grants and partnerships that placed social work interns directly into local schools to help bridge the gap between qualified mental health professionals and support of student well-being.
Carrie is committed to excellent teaching, strong mentorship and supporting youth mental health in Central Texas, and this award recognizes that commitment in such a significant way. Well done, Carrie!
