Meet Carolina Lasso: Social, Nonprofit & Public Leadership Student

October 23, 2026

Tell us about your current role and the work you do.

I currently serve as the Chief Authority Officer, supporting Dallas County residents, individuals, and their families in accessing publicly funded services for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), as well as older and disabled adults, connecting them to necessary resources. This work is deeply meaningful to me because I get to help people navigate systems that can feel overwhelming, and I’m able to support them in moments when guidance and compassion truly matter.

What inspired you to pursue the MA in Social, Nonprofit & Public Leadership? Why Baylor?

I chose the SNPL program because I’m always striving to grow as a leader. I want to strengthen my ability to support employees, advance our mission, and improve the experience of the individuals and families we serve. Leadership is not just a position; it’s a responsibility, and I want to keep developing the skills that help me show up well for others.  I’m also a board member for Buzz Bridge Farms, and I want to be a board member who contributes intentionally and understands how to support a nonprofit’s long‑term vision. Baylor’s program felt like the right place to deepen those skills because it blends purpose, service, and leadership development in a way that aligns with my values.

What do you hope to accomplish after completing the program?

After completing the program, I hope to continue leading with purpose, whether in my current role or wherever I’m called to serve next. My goal is to use what I learn to strengthen organizations, improve services, and make a meaningful impact in the community. The possibilities are endless, and I want to be prepared for every opportunity to lead and serve well.

What is something you’re passionate about outside of work and school?

I’m excited for the growth ahead. This program represents an opportunity to refine my leadership, broaden my perspective, and continue building a career rooted in service and intention.
