Background

 From his youth Prof. Andrew Trujillo has had a passion for serving the Latino community and regaining the language and culture that his family lost due to assimilation practices experienced across several generations. After obtaining his MSW, Andrew worked with Buckner Children and Family Services doing holistic community development in the Colonias of the Rio Grande Valley, TX. Upon coming to Houston, TX, Andrew worked with Unaccompanied Children from Central America; eventually becoming a Program Director of Home Studies and Post Release Services for this population at YMCA International Services. Andrew has also worked as a hospital Social Worker with Harris Health. Currently, as a LCSW, he provides psychotherapy (EMDR, PE, CPT, CBT, CAMS) to Veterans who have PTSD. Andrew has taught for Diana R. Garland School of Social Work since January of 2020.
