Background
Beth Williams is a clinically trained social worker and recent MSW graduate from Baylor University, specializing in the treatment of complex trauma within high-control religious and coercive environments. Beth has also earned certification in Religious Trauma through the Global Center for Religious Research, enhancing her expertise in addressing the psychological and spiritual impacts of faith-based abuse. She also serves on the research collaboration team for the International Cultic Studies Association. Her research interests include religious trauma, Christian Reconstructionism, Christian nationalism, and the intersection of spirituality, creativity, and neuroscience.
During her MSW training, Beth completed clinical work at The Patterson Center for Resiliency in Colorado, providing individual counseling to clients navigating acute crises, trauma recovery (including eating disorders), and systemic abuse.
In addition to her clinical work, Beth maintains an active art studio. This living-room-style space serves as a therapeutic and restorative environment for herself and others to tell their stories and find connection. She integrates creative expression into trauma recovery and nervous system regulation, viewing the creative process as essential to healing and post-traumatic spiritual exploration.
Utilizing clinical insight, creative practice, and research, Beth provides support to individuals in reclaiming autonomy, meaning, and emotional safety after experiences of religious and psychological harm.
