Background

Emma Taylor is a Clinical Associate Professor and Associate Director of Practicum Education for the Online MSW program at Baylor University’s Diana R. Garland School of Social Work. A two-time Baylor alumna (’12, ’13), she joined the school as an adjunct faculty member in 2017, finding a permanent full-time teaching role in 2019. As a licensed clinical social worker and clinical supervisor, Emma has practiced in hospital emergency departments, primary care clinics, and intensive outpatient programs. In hospital settings, she provided psychiatric crisis intervention and helped patients connect with appropriate care. Her primary care work focused on supporting families and preventing child abuse, while her intensive outpatient practice included individual, group, and family therapy for children and adolescents living with chronic illness and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Emma’s teaching and professional interests include clinical diagnosis, ethical practice, clinical supervision, and helping students translate social work knowledge into effective practice. In addition to her work at Baylor, she provides clinical supervision and continuing education training for social workers. She is passionate about preparing thoughtful, confident practitioners who recognize the connections between clinical care, policy, and advocacy. Emma lives in Greenville, South Carolina, with her husband, Zack, and their two children.
