Social Work at Baylor University

10th Competency Video

Social work—particularly social work education at Baylor—recognizes the importance of religion and spirituality as part of our life's journey. As part of our program, you will learn about the importance of considering these beliefs and values as it relates to the social work profession. Unique to the Garland School of Social Work, our 10th Competency guides us to engage in ethical and anti-oppressive social work practice and research that considers the role and influence of religion, spirituality and philosophical perspectives. The Council on Social Work Education requires nine competencies as part of our accreditation, but the GSSW has a 10th. Whether your calling is to help individuals, families, communities or organizations, the social work program at Baylor will provide an educational experience that serves the whole person and will empower you to become a compassionate leader in the field.
